Plastic waste in Austria Emergence and whereabouts
Description
Against the background of an ever-increasing demand for plastics, scarce fossil resources and the action plan for the circular economy package adopted by the EU Commission in 2015, the Federal Environment Agency has surveyed the volume, treatment and fate of plastic waste in Austria. In 2015, about 920,000 tons of plastic waste were generated. The report focuses on detailed quantities by type of waste and plastic content, by major types of plastic (qualities) and by industry origin and area of application. Waste imports and exports were also included. In addition, the report contains information on the state of the art in the treatment of plastic waste at national and European level and an assessment of future developments in the field of plastic waste.
