Detailed mapping of the stone cancer population
Description
The stone cancer populations recorded in 2014 in the Hohenlohekreis on behalf of the Stuttgart Government Presidium (Department 56, Nature Conservation and Landscape Conservation) were examined in detail here (in 2015). The primary objective was to delimit the known populations, i.e. to locate the watercourses populated by stone crabs as accurately as possible in order to be able to formulate initial protective measures. In order to concretise measures, the precise location of possible sites for migration barriers, structurally upgraded stream sections and sources of immission was also necessary. In the Hohenlohekreis (currently November 2015) 23 isolated stone cancer populations are registered. Two other small and isolated residues in the upper reaches in the catchment area of the Ette are entirely in the district of Schwäbisch Hall (SHA), but are still processed here.
