Taste digi: Digitalisation of soil-linked costs

Sito Oy, together with GTK, Rapali, the Finnish Transport Agency and the cities of Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Tampere, has been familiar with the possibilities offered by digitalisation in 2017 with soil construction data and derived from it. utilisation of cost data. The Maa-digi project received funding from the Ministry of the Environment (KIRA-digi) with a total budget of EUR 175000. More information about KIRA-digi is available at: www.kiradigi.fi The main results of the project were to produce a common understanding of the classifications of the soil map for structural purposes and the resulting data structure when the soil data are presented as a grid model. At the same time, a proposal for a uniform way of structuring and presentation of structural information was created. The project proposes standardising these results into national practices. In addition, the project produced a proposal for a machine-readable data model structure of the plan data, in particular the town plan data, and examined its relationship with the property code and the permanent building code. Work to standardise the data structure of the plan model continues at the Ministry of the Environment the project and, for example, another Kiradigi project led by the City of Helsinki. The publication of standardised soil, construction and planning information as a standard interface (WFS) opens up the possibility of diversified utilisation and processing of data into various information services for the benefit of public and private operators with significant societal added value: • Increased predictability in the costs of planning and infrastructure planning; • Significant savings will be made in the costs of ground construction; • Reduced life-cycle costs of the built environment; • Saving time and resources; • Planning will be made easier, • Reduce errors and costs; • Faster and better decision-making; • Environmental and climate impacts will be reduced and • The need for materials for ground construction will decrease.
