Description

Agricultural area means the area of arable land (AL), permanent grassland (PG) and permanent crops (PC). Arable land is land cultivated for crop production or land available for crop production but lying fallow. Permanent grassland Permanent grassland is an area used to grow grasses or other herbaceous forage that have been on the same site for more than 5 years, either by self-renewal or by sowing. Permanent grassland may consist of arable land or natural pastures and meadows. A maximum of 50 trees per hectare may grow scattered on permanent grassland. Trees are defined as single- or multi-hulled trees and woody shrubs at least four metres high. Junipers of all sizes are also considered trees. Trees in wind protection plantations are not taken into account in the number of trees. Deciduous shrubs and deciduous tree seedlings suitable for feeding farmed animals may be grown on the area if they cover less than half of the area of the eligible agricultural parcel. More than half (50%) of the area of the parcel must be grasses and herbaceous forage. This requirement also applies to parcels of permanent grassland with trees or leaf shrubs or both. Permanent plants Permanent crops are non-rotational crops grown for at least 5 years and yielding a repeated harvest. These plants include fruit trees, berry bushes and ornamental plants.
