Description
This table provides an up-to-date overview of the most important figures available on StatLine in the broad field of health and care. All figures are taken directly from other tables on StatLine or obtained via a simple conversion. The original tables from which the figures are derived offer possibilities for disaggregation by characteristics of persons or other units.
The time at which new figures become available is not the same for all series of figures.
The series of grades on the number of graduates show, for reporting year t, the number of persons who obtained a diploma in school or academic year t-1 to t.

2020 and earlier: All available figures are final.
Changes as of 5 June 2024:
Distance to care facilities: further analysis of the figures for 2022 has shown that they differ from previous years due to changes in the GIS software used. As the recalculation of the figures will take some time, the divergent figures for 2022 will be withdrawn until the new figures are ready.
New figures have been added to existing series for:
- life expectancy;
- experienced health;
- hospital admissions by diagnosis;
- sick leave;
- contacts with caregivers;
- number of people over 80;
- youth care;
- smoking, alcohol consumption, physical activity;
- overweight;
- high blood pressure;
- doctors and nurses working in the care sector;
- persons working in the health and welfare sector;
- persons working in the health sector;
- MBO graduates;
- graduate doctors and nurses;
Expenditure on care.
Changes as of 7 July 2023:
The series of 'graduate doctors and nurses' have been replaced by dozens of rounded figures since 2016.
When will there be new figures?
The most recent figures available at that time will be published in December 2024.
