Hydromorphological restorations
Description
Sections of watercourses that have undergone hydromorphological restoration.Good morphological functioning is a necessary condition for achieving good ecological status. Rivers and river ecosystems are complex environments that need space to sustain their dynamic processes. The physical alterations observed in these environments are partly the result of changes and existing developments (environmental or anthropogenic constraints) to which are added new developments in spatial planning, in particular the growth of urbanised areas.In order to combat these phenomena, and thanks to a good knowledge of the territory, SMMAR and its member unions have been implementing for several years a policy of restoring the hydromorphology of watercourses by reconquering mobility spaces. These operations must contribute to restoring, or maintaining, the good ecological status of watercourses, and are also linked to the efforts already undertaken in terms of restoring ripisylve allowing a regeneration of the environment.
