Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment (EPRI) and Flood Risk Management Plan (PGRI) in the Artois Picardie basin
Description
Faced with the catastrophic impact of floods in Europe in recent decades, the European Commission mobilised its efforts by adopting Directive 2007/60/EC on the assessment and management of flood risks, the so-called Flood Directive, in 2007.
Its objective is to reduce the negative consequences of flooding through management plans reviewed every six years.
A first stage of flood risk mapping including an EPRI (Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment) in river basins;
A second step is to identify Territories with Significant Flood Risks (T.R.I.) with the involvement of stakeholders and then to map the flood risks in those territories;
A third stage of production of FRMP flood risk management plans and development of local flood risk management strategies, in close association with the public and with a view to cooperation between Member States.
