Drinking water production areas (TGG) (outlines)
Description
The use of a body of water requires permission or authorisation in accordance with Section 8 of the Water Resources Act (WHG). A drinking water abstraction area (TGG) is a hydrogeologically determined catchment area (expert opinion) of abstraction points for the drinking water abstraction of the public water supply as part of a water law procedure required for this purpose in order to protect waters against adverse effects. The TGG can be divided into different zones. For drinking water production areas, a water protection area (WSG) pursuant to Section 51(1) of the Water Resources Act (WHG) in conjunction with Section 91 of the Lower Saxony Water Act (Niedersächsisches Wassergesetz, NWG) may be established by regulation. TGGs are presented on the basis of ‘granted and applied permits and authorisations for the purpose of drinking water (water rights)’ and ‘other hydrogeological boundaries’ in connection with drinking water.These data are also available in the INSPIRE data model ‘Annex 3: Management areas/protected areas/controlled areas and reporting units’. The provision takes place via the Federal Institute for Hydrology (BfG) via display and download service, whose URLs are specified in the transfer options.
