Marseille - Asbestos Technical Diagnosis of Schools
Description
**The City of Marseille has launched a vast asbestos removal plan in its public schools.** Thus, at the end of 2020, an update of the D.T.A. (Asbestos Technical Diagnosis) in all schools was initiated. Some documents dated back to 2014, or even 2006. In strict compliance with the regulations, all complete diagnoses were sent to all school directorates against authentic signature (acknowledgement of receipt or bearer) in 2021. In parallel, important work to remove asbestos materials has been carried out since the end of 2020. For example, more than €4 million was invested in asbestos removal in 2023 alone. As part of its dynamic policy for the renovation of its school building stock, the city of Marseille undertakes and has carried out asbestos screening before work (RAT) as required by the regulations. In 2024, a new D.T.A. update campaign is taking place, in accordance with the legislative provisions. In line with the City of Marseille’s desire for transparency, the updated TADs will be sent to the Aix Marseille Academy, which will forward them to the school directorates. Asbestos summary sheets become open access and open data. They date back to much of 2021. As many works have been carried out or planned since then, they are being updated in 2024. The aim is to update them before the end of the 2024/2025 school year and the first updates are already available. All summary sheets of these updates will be published. This will allow everyone to measure the municipality's action in this area. Finally, and since 2021, the City of Marseille has signed a partnership charter with CARSAT with a commitment to develop its skills, concerning its role as contracting authority and client, on the best practices recommended by the Health Insurance – Occupational Risks and a training plan for the staff of the departments involved in these missions. This partnership is currently being updated. It will make it possible to broaden CARSAT’s involvement in the actions of the City of Marseille in the area of asbestos risk.
