List of fixed radars in France
Description
This dataset provides detailed information on about 3,400 fixed automatic radars spread over French territory. These radars are used to control the speed of vehicles as well as compliance with certain rules, such as crossing specific areas (red lights, level crossings, etc.).
The information published for each radar shall include:
• Unique identifier: a specific code to identify each radar individually.
• Precise location: the exact GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) of the radar.
• Date of commissioning: the date on which the radar was activated and started operating.
• Type of radar: the category of radar, which specifies its function and mode of operation.
• VMA: maximum speed allowed.
The types of radar available in the dataset are as follows:
• ETF: conventional fixed speed radar, designed to control speeding on a specific stretch of road.
• ETD: discriminating fixed speed radar, capable of differentiating vehicle types (heavy-duty vehicles, cars) and applying different speed thresholds depending on the category.
• ETT: Next generation fixed speed radar, with more advanced infringement detection features to control speeding or crossing.
• STUDIES: New generation fixed speed radar in urban areas to control speeding or crossing.
• ETVM: average speed radar, which calculates the average speed of a vehicle over a certain distance between two points.
• ETFR: red light crossing radar, which monitors compliance with traffic lights.
• FNTE: level crossing radar, used to verify compliance with safety instructions at level crossings.
