Number of notices of contravention by radar in France for the year 2016
Description
This dataset provides information on the number of notices of contravention issued by approximately 3,400 fixed automatic radars distributed throughout France in 2016. These radars are used to control the speed of vehicles as well as compliance with certain rules, such as crossing specific areas (red lights, level crossings, etc.).
The information published for each radar shall include:
• Unique identifier: a specific code to identify each radar individually.
• Type of radar: the category of radar, which specifies its function and mode of operation.
• Number of Notices of Contravention: cumulative quantity over the year.
The types of radar available in the dataset are as follows:
• ETF: conventional fixed speed radar, designed to control speeding on a specific stretch of road.
• ETD: discriminating fixed speed radar, capable of differentiating vehicle types (heavy-duty vehicles, cars) and applying different speed thresholds depending on the category.
• ETVM: average speed radar, which calculates the average speed of a vehicle over a certain distance between two points.
• ETFR: red light crossing radar, which monitors compliance with traffic lights.
• FNTE: level crossing radar, used to verify compliance with safety instructions at level crossings.
