Trust in people, law and politics; European comparison
Description
In this table you will find the trust in other people and the trust in law and politics of residents of different European countries aged 15 years or older since 2002. Trust in other people is determined by the question 'Do you think that in general most people can be trusted or do you think that one cannot be careful enough in dealing with others?'. Trust in law and politics has been established by asking how much trust one has in different political and social institutions, namely the national parliament, the legal system, the police, politicians, political parties, the European Parliament and the United Nations.
The data in this table are based on the European Social Survey (ESS). The ESS is a biennial study commissioned by the European Commission, the European Science Foundation and the various national scientific research organisations.

Status of figures:
The 2020 figures are provisional. The figures from 2002 to 2018 are final.

Figures for 2018 have been adjusted and made definitive and the figures for 2020 have been added new.
When will there be new figures?
The new figures come in 2025.
