List of municipalities willing to adapt to the decline of the coastline
Description
This dataset includes municipalities whose urban planning action and development policy must be adapted to hydrosedimentary phenomena leading to coastal erosion.
This list was adopted by decree pursuant to Article L321-15 of the Environmental Code, introduced by Article 239 of Law No 2021-1104 of 22 August 2021, known as the Climate and Resilience Law.
The municipalities listed by that decree are subject to Articles L.121-22-1 to 12 of the Town Planning Code created by that law and dealing with exposure to the setback of the coastline and the adaptation of town planning documents. In particular, they must draw up a ‘local map of exposure to coastline retreat’ which will be included in their local planning document.
The BRGM and Cerema, at the request of the ministry responsible for the ecological transition, drafted a recommendation document for local authorities to facilitate the preparation of the local maps provided for by law: https://www.geolittoral.developpement-durable.gouv.fr/recommendations-pour-l-elaboration-des-cartes-a1533.html
