Coverage of the ground by Artificial Intelligence (CoSIA) of Troyes Champagne Métropole

Description

The CoSIA maps describe the soil cover, i.e. the nature of the soil, according to 16 classes (building, water surface, conifer, cultivation, brush, etc.). This soil description is produced for the entire French territory (metropolis and DROM) and with a high resolution of 20 cm per pixel. CoSIA cards are a product of the IGN which are currently involved in the design of the OCSGE. Their spatial resolution and semantic finesse can also help in the production of other maps and the calculation of other indicators such as vegetation in the city, hedges & bocages, green & blue frames or intervene in the production of local MOS or a finer GE SCO. To produce these maps, artificial intelligence processes are used, including deep learning methods. These maps are then called "prediction" because they are obtained from a digital AI model that statistically estimates for each pixel its belonging to a class, and may not fully reflect the reality on the ground.
