Description
Bedrock 1:1 000 000 data was completed in 1997 with the aim of compiling the latest bedrock data and producing a printed map of it. Bedrock – Berggrund – Bedrock of Finland 1: 1000000 images of the rocks of the Finnish bedrock in age groups, tectonic units and divided into the following main areas: Lapin Granulite Zone and Inari Complex, Karelian Main Area, Svecofennian Main Area and Caledonian Main Area. The younger stones, Mesoprotezoic, Neoproterozoic and Paleozoic, are presented by age group. The map data also includes alkali rocks, carbonates and kimberlites, as well as meteorite strikes. Separate files include geological structures, metamorphic properties and plots.
The map data was compiled and modified from previously completed bedrock data into a uniform spatial dataset. The map data was further refined and supplemented with data from flight geophysics. In particular, cross-country inspections were carried out at the main regional borders.
Bedrock – Berggrund – Bedrock of Finland 1: 1000000 data includes rock areas, granulite areas and main areas as areas, plots, tectonic structures, lithological trends, kimberlite provinces and main area boundaries as lines, and meteorite spots.
