Asylum applications, publication of 27 June 2024
Description
In 2023, asylum applications made in one-stop shops for asylum seekers (GUDA) were divided into 145160 first applications and 21 896 reviews, for a total of 167056 applications, representing an increase of +7.2% compared to 2022. Among the first requests made in GUDA, Dublin requests increased significantly by +25.1% in 2023 compared to the previous year.
To these requests made in GUDA, another 20 141 requests should be added. Most stem from reclassifications of procedures initially identified as falling within the remit of other EU Member States under the Dublin Regulation in previous years, but which did not result in a transfer to the European country concerned (16155). In addition, refugee resettlements, under the programme conducted in conjunction with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees: 3191 asylum applications in 2023, 88% more than in 2022.
