Issuance of visas to foreigners on 27 June 2024

Description

The number of visa applications and issuances in 2023 increased confirming the rebound observed in 2022. This trend is mainly due to the increase in short-stay visas for tourism or economic reasons. ------------- **Note:** Visas issued to foreigners fall into three categories. Transit visas allow the crossing of a state of the Schengen area to go to a third country or the passage through the international airport transit zone during an international stopover. Short-stay visas, essentially "Schengen short-stay visas", are valid in metropolitan France and in the other member states of the Schengen area, with rare exceptions and special conditions for overseas territories. Long-stay visas are valid throughout France.
