FFH Mowing Meadow

Description

This habitat type includes species-rich, sparsely fertilized, extensively (one- to two-mowed) cultivated mowing meadows in flat and hilly areas. This includes both dry (e.g. Sage-Glatthaferwiese) and fresh-moist mowing meadows. In contrast to intensive grassland, these meadows are rich in flowers. The first hay pruning does not take place before the main flowering time of the grasses. The main occurrences of this type of meadow are in Europe-wide view in southwestern Germany. Since 01.03.2022, the FFH mowing meadows have also been part of the protected biotopes.
