Uniform timetable template for combined transport - EiFa

Description

In contrast to multimodal passenger transport, rail and waterways are still largely a digital black box for the transport of goods. This makes it difficult for potential customers to switch to these environmentally friendly modes of transport. Small and medium-sized enterprises in particular will benefit from the results in the future and participate significantly better in digital data exchange in combined transport. The objectives of the EiFa feasibility study, together with the industry, to determine uniform content (including terminal coding), data formats and interfaces of the timetables, were successfully completed in the context of surveys, workshops and a final technical specification. The most important findings from the feasibility study with the CT stakeholders are: Confirmation of the need for a harmonised roadmap by CT operators, shippers, platform and terminal operators, need for easy access to CT data, in particular for CT beginners, harmonisation of location coding for interconnection with booking or information platforms. The results of the study form a consistent concept for data exchange on the use of intermodal transport for transporters and shippers. On the basis of uniform location codes for intermodal terminals, the prerequisites are created for the first time to interpret timetable data unambiguously. Based on this, data exchange formats of the industry, such as KV4.0/DXI and railML, can be assigned and designed interoperably. Based on these results, the project partners SGKV and PTV Group plan to implement a neutral information platform that is beneficial for all stakeholders and based on neutrality, information content and easy accessibility.
