Air - Environmental regulation - Inland waterway transport ban on degassing surfaces
Description
This surface stock contains the ban on degassing in water. It prohibits the degassing of residual cargo vapour from benzene and certain benzene-containing hydrocarbons on a fairway from a cargo tank of an inland waterway vessel. This is in line with corresponding regulations of other provinces. The scheme anticipates a definitive regulation on the environmental hygiene aspects of degassing in an international context. This part of the Environmental Ordinance is therefore temporary in nature and will lapse with the establishment of an international regulation and resulting national regulations. This file was adopted by Provincial Councils on 15 December 2021, date of entry into force is 1 February 2022.
