SCoT of the Pays de Brest: Urban structure
Description
The Pays de Brest has a polycentric spatial organisation. This organisation makes it possible to offer at inter-municipal level an efficient network of equipment and services, a greater diversity of housing (collective, social, etc.) and access to the territory's public transport system (access to employment in Brest, higher education, etc.).
The Pays de Brest is thus made up of five levels of urban network:
• Brest metropolis;
• the urban centre of Landerneau;
• the structuring poles: Crozon, Lesneven / Le Folgoët, Plabennec and Saint-Renan;
• relay poles: Daoulas, Lannilis, Le Faou, Pont-de-Buis-lès-Quimerc’h, Ploudalmézeau, Plouguerneau;
• other municipalities, among which inter-municipal planning documents may identify local clusters.
The Guidance and Objectives Document (DOO) builds on this framework to define the guidelines for urban development.
