WRRL processing areas Lower Saxony
Description
The WFD requires the so-called river basin approach; all plans, investigations or measures shall be linked across countries to the entire catchment area of a river. In order to better coordinate the management planning between countries, coordination areas have been established within the river basins, which are also used for reporting to the EU.Under the coordination areas exist processing areas where spatially differentiated management is carried out, in particular in relation to the planning of measures. The regional cooperations constitute part of Lower Saxony’s public participation.
