WFD processing areas Lower Saxony
Description
The WFD requires the so-called river basin approach; all plans, investigations or measures shall be cross-border related to the entire catchment area of a river. In order to better coordinate management planning between countries, coordination areas have been established within the river basins, which are also used for reporting to the EU.Behind the coordination areas, there are processing areas where spatially differentiated management is carried out in particular in relation to the planning of measures. Regional cooperation is part of Lower Saxony’s public participation.
