Characterisation data on the vulnerability of Adour-Garonne territories to climate change
Description
During the development of the climate change adaptation plan (2016-2018), vulnerability to climate change was assessed on the Adour-Garonne Basin according to 5 main indicators that are all major issues for water management:
— availability of surface water
— availability of groundwater
— the risk of drought in the soil
— the risk of water quality degradation
— the weakening of aquatic environments and biodiversity
For each issue, vulnerability assessment involves:
— the selection of future hydroclimatic variables such as temperature variation;
— the definition of the current characteristics of territories that make them more or less fragile in terms of their exposure to the impacts of climate change.
In the end, after treatment of 14 hydroclimatic projections, two classes of vulnerability were selected.
— Moderate vulnerability sectors requiring generic, flexible and reversible adaptation measures
— More vulnerable sectors requiring strong and structuring adaptation actions
