Projection of the Danish population at individual and family level nuanced on selected descriptive characteristics
Description
Using the microsimulation model SMILE, the Danish population is projected at individual and family level. The population is nuanced on factors such as gender, age, ancestry, family type, level of education, labour market affiliation, income, wealth, housing conditions and municipality of residence.
The projection has many applications, but is particularly distinguished by being able to shed light on the variation in individual life cycles over time, including in particular inequality in different income and wealth measures. In addition, the taking into account of the family structure, together with the modelling of the rules for receiving income transfers, makes it possible to assess the level of set-off against public benefits on the basis of both own and partner's income.
