Description

The permanent noise measurement and monitoring network in the metropolitan area of Lyon has been in existence since 2004 and consists of 19 measuring stations. The variability in noise differences between day and night, and depending on the days of the week, is observed over a long period of time. This network measures the sound state of: — emblematic places: places, pedestrian places, tourist areas...; — acoustically saturated areas; — quiet places to preserve them; — sites before and after major urban planning projects or transport routes; — places “subject” to various events: construction sites, animations, etc.The values provided per day, per tag, are as follows: — Noise:Lday: sound level, weighted according to the sensitivity of the human ear, calculated over the daytime period (6h-18h). — Noise:lden: sound level, weighted according to the sensitivity of the human ear, calculated over the three hourly periods, day (6h-18h), evening (18h-22h), night (22h-6h). — Noise:Levening: sound level, weighted according to the sensitivity of the human ear, calculated over the hourly period 18h-22h. — Noise:Lnight: sound level, weighted according to the sensitivity of the human ear, calculated over the night period (22h-6h). The measured values are accessible through a standardised Sensor Observation Service (SOS).
