Verdon Park — Climate change in the territory

Description

Faced with climate change, the Verdon Regional Natural Park has expressed the need to refine knowledge about the present and future local climate. The objective is to assess the impacts of climate change. The park, due to its physical and environmental characteristics, its geographical position, is a vulnerable territory subject in particular to the Mediterranean character of the climate, to climate change and global. To protect this territory and its wealth and to provide answers on the associated constraints, it is necessary to spatialise the local climate with high spatial resolution of today and tomorrow. To meet the needs of local actors in the territory, a series of maps of present and future climate with fine spatial resolution has been produced. The latter derives from a regional study. The current climate (or reference period) runs from 1996 to 2015, a period of 20 years, and future horizons correspond to periods 2026-2045 and 2046-2065. Short- and medium-term horizons have been chosen so that they do not plan further and thus remain on a time scale within the scope of ambitious 50-year planning and adaptation policies. A total of 340 monthly, seasonal and annual air temperature and precipitation maps were produced: for each parameter (Tmin, Tmax, Tmoy, RR), the maps illustrate present and future climate based on CPRs and future horizons (2026-2045, 2046-2065) on land surfaces. ** Source** * Achievement: GeographR/Philippe Rossello, * Gross data: Weather-France, DRIAS The future of climate.
