Description
**Study of the evolutionary dynamics of vegetation from 1944 to 2000** Although until the 1970s there were still talk of “degraded middles” when talking about dry lawns, these formations are now recognised of major biological value. These very original dry lawns have been the subject of ambitious conservation measures carried out by the Park and are also included in the priorities of the Habitats Directive. The objective of the study is to see how these lawns could have become scarce from 1944 to the present day. This dataset is to be linked to the datasets of 1944 and 1999. The source data came from the 1944 air missions, black and white, at 1/25 000th, taken by the American army and kept by the Aerophotothèque of the Camille Jullian Center in Aix-en-Provence. Photo-interpretation analysis allowed us to define a typology in 4 classes: * herbaceous media: lawns, * semi-open environments: garrigues, * semi-closed media: matorrals, * closed environments: the forests.
