Wetlands

Description

Wetland Inventory: wetlands are “land, whether or not exploited, usually flooded or sprinkled with fresh, salted or brackish water permanently or temporarily, or whose vegetation, where it exists, is dominated by hygrophile plants for at least part of the year”. (Article L.211-1 of the Environmental Code). For Metropolitan France & Corsica, the criteria for defining and delimiting a wetland have been clarified in order to facilitate a shared appreciation of what a wetland is with a view to their preservation by regulation. (Articles L. 214-7-1 and R. 211-108).
