Helsinki metropolitan postal code areas

The Helsinki metropolitan area postal code areas data have been produced at HSY together with the cities of Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa. The dataset contains detailed area boundaries and information about postal codes and locations.

The postal code area demarcations have been produced largely on the basis of municipalities' own demarcations, making them compatible with municipalities' own postal code area demarcations. The accuracy of the harmonised data varies slightly from municipality to municipality due to the initial data and maintenance practices. Postal code areas are not tied to administrative divisions, so they are sometimes located in the territory of several municipalities. The dataset contains information on postal codes and post offices. In addition, indicative names of the areas have been added to the data from Statistics Finland's open postal code area data.

For 2019, 2022 and 2023, there is also material cut on the coastline. This is more suitable for visualisations that do not want to include sea areas. The cut was made using marine data from the Regional Map.

The material was completed at the beginning of each year.
