Description
In 2021, the annual flow of acquisitions of French nationality, with **130,385 new French**, increased by 53.6 % compared to 2020. Acquisitions by decree increased sharply in 2021 (+ 79.5 %), in connection with the facilitation of procedures for foreigners “in the front line”, actively involved in the fight against Covid-19, as well as with the reduction in processing time for procedures for acquiring nationalities.
Acquisitions per declaration and those without formalities increased more moderately (respectively + 28.0 % and + 39.3 %). They follow a 2020 year of health crisis, as lockdowns have affected the chain of investigation of acquisition files.
