Description

Updated zoning during the 2014 10-year periodic review of the North-Pfälzerwald Transboundary Vosges Biosphere Reserve. This covers the Northern Vosges Regional Natural Park and the Biosphärenreservat Pfälzerwald (Palatinate Biosphere Reserve). Obtained by merging national zoning with border harmonisation. The external limit on the French side comes from the merger of the boundaries of the communes of the IGN Topo comic book (version of April 2014) with cutting according to the road network at the level of Phalsbourg and Wissembourg, municipalities in part only on the territory of the PNRVN. A biosphere reserve is organised into three types of zones, where protection, maintenance and development objectives are divided: \- Central areas, having as their function nature protection and to be protected by national legislation (classified protected areas). \- Buffer zones, which surround or adjoin the central areas. These are areas of sustainable development where production activities must remain compatible with ecological principles, including environmental education, recreation and scientific research; \- Transitional areas (also known as “cooperation”) lend themselves to various activities.
