Cultural history- Old residential grounds
Description
This file contains the locations of old elevated residential lands (culture layers) in the river area. A cultural layer also called archaeological layer is a phenomenon that is particularly common in settlement sites in holocene Netherlands. This layer was created by mixing occupancy residues (pottery, wood and other organic material) with the substrate of the tread. Under the culture layer, the trace level is usually well preserved. In a guts drill it can be recognised as a humus-like layer, in which charcoal particles are present.
