Exceedance card acidifying deposition 2024
Description
The present map shows the extent to which the critical deposition value (KDW) for acidification of the European protected nitrogen-sensitive habitats in the Habitats Directive Areas (SBZ-H) in Flanders has been exceeded in the shades of yellow-orange-red. The green areas are the nitrogen-sensitive habitats in which the WFD is not exceeded. The KDW is the amount of deposition (for acidification in acid equivalents per hectare per year or Zeq/ha.year) for a given ecosystem under which, according to current scientific knowledge, there is no significant change in biodiversity in the long term. A specific KDW has been determined for each habitat type. The exceedance map has been drawn up by VITO on the basis of the following data: (A) The modelled depositions of acidifying substances based on VLOPS24, using emission data of the year 2022 and meteorological data of the year 2017; (B) The BWK habitat map version 2023; (C) The preliminary search areas for conservation objectives - version 0.2 and (D) the nature targets (appropriate management) as included in the nature management plans, version January 2024. The map layers B, C and D together are also available as KDW map version 2024.
