Forest location map of Lower Saxony 1 : 25 000
Description
The soils of Lower Saxony's forests are mapped as part of site mapping in accordance with the norm of the terrain ecological assessment framework (Ed. Niedersächsisches Forstplanungsamt Wolfenbüttel) and presented in forest site maps. The ownership structure in the forests of Lower Saxony is very heterogeneous. These include federal forests with e.g. military properties, state forests in state ownership, forests of the monastery chamber, urban forests, forests in private ownership with care by the state forests or by the Lower Saxony Chamber of Agriculture. Site mapping is carried out with the support of the country under the responsibility of the respective owners.
On the basis of the Decree on the Soil Protection Act (RdErl. d. MW v. 17). 12. 1999 – 35-28102 –), the LBEG incorporates the forest location data into the NIBIS® and, with the consent of the owners, presents them in generalised form on the map server. In addition, the forest location maps in sheet section 1 : 25 000 in a standardised output format as cards. The maps show the suitability of different locations as a production basis. So-called site types are classified on the maps, which can be characterized by soil moisture, air balance, nutrient and base supply as well as substrate and storage.
Due to the high spatial resolution of the terrain images, the forest location maps are of great importance for the geological and soil survey of the country.
