Ground map of Lower Saxony 1 : 50 000 - Groundwater level
Description
The groundwater stage of soils (GWS) describes the degree of influence of near-surface groundwater on the development of soils and the processes occurring in the soil. A low GWS indicates a high groundwater level and thus a high influence of groundwater on the soil. The GWS is based on the soil map of Lower Saxony 1: 50000 (BK50) derived from the prevailing mean groundwater maximum (MHGW) and mean groundwater depths (MNGW). It characterises the influence of groundwater with the help of a metric.
