Description

Arcep makes public the indicators on the evolution of the digital environmental footprint in France. The published indicators are derived from the data collection carried out since 2020 from the four main electronic communications operators. For this new edition, they are enriched with an analysis of the electricity consumption of internet boxes, Wi-Fi repeaters and TV set-top boxes. This third edition of the annual survey for sustainable digital is also enriched with indicators on the environmental footprint of two new categories of actors: terminal manufacturers and data centre operators. This publication is part of Arcep’s ‘For a sustainable digital’ approach. A tool for public debate and reflection for a low-carbon digital strategy, this annual survey also aims to identify levers for action, both on the side of economic actors than that of the users. The annual survey for sustainable digitalisation is enriched each year, both in terms of the scope of the actors interviewed and the number and nature of the indicators collected. The fourth edition of the survey will result from the environmental data collection extended to mobile network OEMs.
