The thickness of the paleocene in the duck beak
Description
The maximum thickness of the Paleocene is slightly less than 200 m and is reached in the southwest on the Schillgrund high. Another local maximum of width is formed in the northwest along the border with the Dutch sector. Some disturbance zones and salt structures have a significant influence on the width distribution. The paleocene width distribution shows similarity to the distribution in the upper chalk. The variety of local width fluctuations indicates increased tectonic activity during the Paleocene, as well as pronounced salin artectonics. It is possible to establish close links with tectonic movements that have already begun in the upper chalk.
