Digital terrain model (NLP)

Description

The terrain model with a ground resolution of 0.4 x 0.4 m was derived from the data from the laser scan flight in spring 2015. More specifically: The terrain model is an interpolation of laser beams reflected not from vegetation (leaves, branches, trunks), but from the ground. The terrain model depicts the terrain surface as if the vegetation layer were not present. In the calculation with the tree crown height model, which is also derived from laser scan data, tree heights for each individual tree can be derived. This is an extremely valuable piece of information for assessing forest dynamics when comparing several time slices. Thanks to its high soil resolution, terrain structures can also be identified that are not or hardly recognizable in vegetation-covered terrain, e.g. former paths, drainage ditches, charcoal fields, foundation walls, etc.
