Winter viability on the departmental road network - Department of Calvados
Description
The table of the network of winter viability on the departmental roads comes from the DOVH (dossier of organization of winter viability) approved by the departmental council of Calvados.
To define service levels, the organisation of winter viability is based on the hierarchy of departmental roads adopted by the departmental council, takes into account the geographical and climatic conditions of Calvados and the consequences of bad weather on traffic conditions classified into four situations: C1 (normal circulation), C2 (delicate circulation), C3 (difficult circulation), C4 (impossible circulation).
**Collection context**
Since 2002, the Department of Calvados has been managing a geographic information system - GIS - with a road component. All information relating to the management of the departmental public road domain is provided through the Department's Road Geographic Information System (SIGR).
The road graph is digitized from departmental orthophotos.
The latest updates to the road graph were made from the 2020 IGN orthophoto.
**Collection method**
The technical teams of the Department of Calvados integrate the updates concerning winter viability into the Road Geographic Information System (SIGR).
