Geological map 1:50 000 mineral resources
Description
Geological map 1:50 000 provides information on mineral resources, among other things. Several types of objects are mapped: Perspectives, hotspots and sites. Prospective area is a mineral deposit with a predictive reserve that is not entered in the environmental register. Area of distribution is an area separated during geological mapping or prospecting of mineral resources where the existence of mineral reserves may be presumed. A site is an area with unclear outlines (as a point symbol on a map) where rocks or sediments have been found that meet the requirements for mineral resources. The mineral resources thematic map covers the following 1:50 000 map pages: Prangli, Loksa, Võsu, Karepa, Pakri, Paldiski, Tallinn, Maardu, Kehra, Kadrina, Rakvere, Kiviõli, Kohtla-Järve, Sillamäe, Narva, Keila, Kohila, Vaida, Aegviidu, Tapa, Väike-Maarja, Järva-Jaani, Paide, Rapla, Järvakandi, Tartu, Võru, Misso, Laura, Petseri and Räpina. The sites and distribution areas shown elsewhere on the Estonian mainland have been digitised from 1:200,000 geological printing maps of surfaces and substrates compiled in the 1960s and 70s. In addition to land, mineral resource ranges have also been mapped in the Gulf of Finland (through the SedGOF project).
