Wetlands of Lyon Metropolis
Description
Wetlands are land, whether exploited or not, usually flooded or filled with fresh, salty or brackish water on a permanent or temporary basis. Vegetation, where it exists, is dominated by hygrophile plants (who love water) for at least part of the year" (Article L.211-1 of the Environmental Code).
The wetland data is the result of the compilation of the following geographical information:
— inventory of ponds in Amphibians, conducted by the Rhône-Alpes Ornithological Centre (2001-2009)
— field inventory of wetlands of the metropolis of Lyon carried out by FRAPNA (2013-2016)
— departmental inventory of wetlands carried out by the Rhône Department (2005, updated in 2009 and 2013 with the support of the Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels)
— characterisation of wetlands as part of the planning studies of the Metropolis.
