Public Initiative Network “Grand Lyon Fiber”
Description
This layer of lines corresponds to the route of the optical fibre cables of the Réseau d’Initiative Publique (RIP) “the Grand Lyon fiber”.
The Métropole de Lyon entrusted the design, construction, operation and marketing of the Network as part of a Public Service Delegation (DSP) in 2015 for a period of 25 years to Grand Lyon THD (GLTHD), a subsidiary of the Covage Group.
The Métropole de Lyon has chosen to digitally develop its territory and ensure a public service mission towards the business areas, the main corporate buildings and public sites to unveil service offerings with high commitment of service quality (symmetric and guaranteed flows, black optical fiber, short recovery times in the event of a cut-off, etc.) for economic and public actors. The Network provides wholesale FTTO/BLOD (Fiber To The Office/Local Optical Dedicated) services under neutral and non-discriminatory conditions to telecom operators who then address public companies and establishments by providing their services (Internet, telephony, hosting, remote backup, etc.).
