Backup zones of the SAGE Low Dauphiné Plain of Valencia (Drôme)

Description

In order to preserve strategic resources for Potable Water Supply (AEP), SAGE has defined 30 Safeguard Zones (SZs) in its territory, corresponding to good quality water resources in sufficient quantity for the current and future drinking water supply of the population. These strategic water resources are currently unprotected. The Local Water Commission therefore wishes to launch a plan for the preservation of strategic resources for drinking water supply, which involves regulatory measures targeting the activities or sectors most at risk, taking into account through planning documents, and improving the knowledge and information of stakeholders on the ground. The aim of the safeguard zones is to maintain water quality compatible with drinking water production and a quantitative balance between sampling and natural recharge, by implementing specific actions in these sectors and by regulating certain activities. They may be exploited (ZSE) if a drinking water catchment already requires the current or unused water resource (ZSNEA) and in this case reserved to meet the future drinking water needs of the population.
