Sites of the Regional Natural Reserve of the Morvan peatlands
Description
The Morvan bogs were classified as a Nature Reserve in 2015 by the Burgundy Region Franche County. They are a remarkable set of spaces protected and managed by the Syndicat Mixte du Morvan Regional Natural Park. The Nature Reserve comprises 12 entities in the central Morvan and Upper Morvan for a total of 266 ha; 11 of these are included in the Natura 2000 Morvan site. The natural heritage concerned includes the most emblematic peatlands of the territory, large sets of paraturbous meadows and peat ponds. About 1,000 plant and animal species have already been inventoried, 200 of which are rare, threatened or protected.
