Municipalities of the Coastal Law to the Official Geographical Code (COG 2020->2022)

Description

The municipalities concerned by the application of the ‘Law Littoral’ are defined by Article L. 321-2 of the Environmental Code as the municipalities of metropolitan France and the departments overseas: Article L321-2 For the purposes of this Chapter, coastal municipalities shall be considered to be municipalities of metropolitan France and of the overseas departments: (1) Riveraines of the seas and oceans, salt ponds, inland water bodies with an area exceeding 1,000 hectares; 2° Riveraines of estuaries and deltas when they are located downstream of the salting limit of the waters and participate in the economic and ecological balances of the coast. The list of these municipalities shall be determined by decree in the Council of State, after consultation with the municipal councils concerned. A commune is considered to be riparian to the sea and the oceans as long as a small part of its territory is adjacent to the shore of the sea.
