Thermal monitoring of rivers in Normandy

Description

La Touques, l’Orne et la Sélune were equipped by DREAL in Normandy with a thermal monitoring in June 2011. This monitoring was carried out to deepen the overall knowledge of Normandy’s fluvitial ecosystems and to understand the impact of groundwater and dams in Normandy on the thermal regimes of the two rivers. The probes are attached to the roots of ripisylve trees in shaded position. They are installed at a depth ensuring their complete immersion regardless of the season. The temperature is measured every two hours. The probes used are HOBO® water Temp Pro v2 (U22-001). Their accuracy is ± 0.2 °C. The data can be read through two interfaces: optical and USB. DREAL Normandie provides 2 raw data files: 1. a file on the measurement network with the geographical coordinates of the stations 2. a file compiling recorded measurements
