Description of the INSPIRE Download Service (predefined Atom): Ecologically valuable forest areas were defined by 5 forest protection criteria and taken into account in an amendment to the LWaldG. These areas were excluded from the use of wind energy. The 5 new forest protection criteria are described as follows and apply to all types of ownership (private forest, municipal forest, state forest). 1. deciduous forests which have at least 75 per cent of the main layer of tree species as deciduous trees at least 100 years old, including parts of a stock in which small-area younger trees of the intermediate and shelter or coniferous wood dominate the stock picture and which are designated at the reference date 1 January 2023 in the forestry facility put into force by the forestry authority, or, if such is not available, in the nationwide private forest inventory of the year 2014 in the treatment unit ‘old wood’ or ‘medium tree wood’, 2. forest stands which are mapped as old and dead wood biocenose areas (ATB areas) as at the cut-off date 01.01.2023 in the forestry facility put into effect by the forestry authority, 3. Forest stands used for forestry research, as well as marteloscope areas, (areas used for forestry education and training), 4. approved crop stands according to the Forest Reproductive Material Act, 5. Forest stands that have been taken out of regular management at the reference date 01.01.2023 in the forestry facility put into effect by the forestry authority.
