Sound classification of category 4 railways — Isère
Description
The purpose of the classification is to inform future residents of noise pollution associated with land transport infrastructure and requires them to implement the necessary protections in order to comply with the regulatory noise levels within sensitive buildings (house, health, social, education, hotel): 35db(decibel)[A] day and 30db[A] night. Classification makes it possible not to recreate a black spot of noise.
Preventive action is the only effective regulation on noise in land transport infrastructure.
The sound classification consists of 5 categories classified from 1 to 5, with category 1 being the noisyest.
The following are classified: roads flowing more than 5000 vehicles/day, railroads of more than 50 trains per day and public transport on a clean site.
