Social security results in 2019

Description

In order to improve Parliament’s information, the Court has presented in two stages, since last year, its analyses of the financial situation of social security. This report, which examines the social security accounts in 2019, is the first part of the report. The deficit of the general social security scheme and the old-age solidarity fund (FSV) was EUR 1.9 billion in 2019, compared to EUR 1.2 billion in 2018. General scheme and FSV expenditure increased by 2.2 % in 2019, slightly below 2018 (+ 2.4 %). The national health insurance expenditure target was met for the tenth consecutive year. The impact of the health crisis on social accounts in 2020 and beyond makes it necessary to define a new path towards the return of social security to balance.
